Molly Halbrooks
LMFT
Charlotte, NC
Molly Halbrooks holds a Master of Family Therapy from Mercer University and has been licensed since 2014. Her extensive training and clinical experience have equipped her to work with adults of all ages with varying presenting issues through in person and virtual therapy. She currently is accepting clients from Georgia and North Carolina for virtual sessions, and in-person sessions for those in the Charlotte area.
In sessions, Molly creates a comfortable, safe, and accepting atmosphere where her clients can explore the challenges they face. Her clients have described her as down to earth, easy to talk to, and direct. The clients who find her to be the best fit include those facing life transitions such as divorce, new parenting, and career changes; individuals struggling with anxiety; grieving individuals; those facing relational struggles; and those who are wanting to make sense of and heal from past traumatic experiences. She uses a combination of techniques, drawing from Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and client-centered, strength-based techniques to meet clients where they are and walk with them through the process of creating positive change. She has been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and utilizes this to address a variety of presenting concerns, including trauma, mood disorders, and phobias.
Molly grew up just outside of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and has lived in the southeast for the past 14 years. She currently lives in the Charlotte area with her husband and children, and when she is not seeing clients she enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, spending time outdoors, and traveling.

Starting therapy can be scary, overwhelming, frustrating, and/or exhausting. There are so much options.. and if you're not a therapist yourself, many of the terms and specialties are new for you and probably don't mean anything yet. If you're not sure what exactly you're looking for, but know you want help and support, you're in the right place. I'll explain the process, walk through what next steps are and work with you along the way to answer questions and make sure what we are doing continues to feel supportive of your needs.
I offer my clients a safe space to explore questions and thoughts that they may not feel comfortable sharing with others. We will look at the feelings that come up for you in difficult situations and also share the wins together. We can keep things in the moment and focus on what's currently happening, or explore how past experiences have shaped you.
Everyone's needs are different, and there is not a one size fits all to therapy. I believe the relationship is the most important part of this process, and with a strong connection to your therapist (hopefully me!) real change and understanding can happen. If you're ready to start, please reach out and we can walk through this together.

I work with clients who may be struggling with anxiety, depression, and trauma in a way that's impacting their view of themselves and their ability to find wellbeing in relationships. In addition, I enjoy working with teens and adults on issues related to perfectionism, people-pleasing, codependency, relationship dynamics, sports performance, and sports injury. If you struggle with any of the above or with feelings of guilt, shame, resentment, not being enough/good enough, or vulnerability, I’d love to work with you!
Because each person is unique, I believe therapy is most effective when the approach is adapted to meet the needs of each individual. My approach is a combination of identifying and removing obstacles that are preventing healing while simultaneously providing support to help you move towards health. In sessions, this could involve exploring your past to understand how it impacts you today as well as gaining awareness, insight, and practical skills to help you move forward.
I hope to bring warmth, genuineness, and authenticity to our sessions in a way that invites you to do the same. I strive to create a space where you feel safe enough to open up and share your story, and it’s my goal that you would leave each session feeling seen, heard, and understood. As you move towards healing, my desire for you is that you would learn to live more authentically and wholeheartedly with a greater capacity for joy, connection, resilience, and hope.
I would love the opportunity to learn more about you and your reasons for seeking therapy to see if I’m the right fit for you. I hope to hear from you!

In my role as counselor I am honored to support individuals who are struggling with various aspects of life. Perhaps dealing with strong anxiety or depression, negative self talk, relationship issues, work or school pressures, unhealthy habits and poor self care. Does any of this sound like you? I will work with you to understand what is happening, design strategies to address your specific issues, and work step by step with you as we remove the barriers and build new and better ways of being you. Healthy, happy and connected to the world around you. Encompassing compassion and practicality, I use cognitive behavioral, mindfulness, and short-term solution-focused therapies, often in my practice. I am EMDR trained, but prefer to use EFT (a cognitive somatic tapping technique), shown to help individuals integrate and heal from past traumatic events, life experience, difficult memories, present food cravings, stress, anxiety, and phobias. I also use cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients process certain issues and find solutions. My blending of cognitive and mind-body practice creates a unique healing experience for clients. I am eager to help you thrive in all areas of your life, and will offer you the tools to make effective and lasting changes. I look forward to working with you towards the peace and health you desire. For clients who prefer speaking Spanish, I have a good command of the language. I am licensed in Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Maryland and Vermont.

After years in another career, I chose to retrain for helping others through mental health challenges. Trauma counseling and marriage and family therapy were areas of focus for me. Life experience, good training, and expert supervision combine to enable me to be effective with a wide range of mental health concerns. My clinical experience includes working a year with men in substance addictions and their families.
How do I view mental health? We are all impacted by the systems of which we are a part (family, friends, work, neighborhood, etc.). Trauma can have a long-lasting impact on our lives. We are all spiritual beings, regardless of which faith system we endorse. Everyone's struggles make sense and are a produce of what happened to them and the choices they made.
Your mental health challenges probably impact every area of your life. Let me help you make sense of them and find ways to flourish in life. I am accepting new clients (individuals, couples, and families) for in-person and virtual sessions.

My education has taught me to meet my clients where they are. It's your world, and I am here to assist! In a non-judgmental and confidential atmosphere, your progression is a priority. Working together, we will identify the issues and/or triggers that you may be experiencing. We will also identify strategies and ways to overcome, work through, and move forward from those stumbling blocks. With a listening ear, I will support and encourage as necessary. I aim to push individuals to their fullest potential. Though it may be challenging, I will be with you on your growth journey. Even though loved ones may surround us, sometimes that is not enough, and that's okay! Sometimes, we need to reach out and ask for more support and assistance. That's okay, too! This is why I am here.
My entire work career since graduating has been centered around mental health. I work with adults, older adults, families and couples. I specialize in Depressive Disorders, stress, low self-esteem, Anxiety Disorders, coping skills, & more. Specialized to meet your needs, I utilize therapeutic interventions such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Solution Focused Therapy.
